Dexter is seeking an experienced supply chain/procurement professional with through knowledge and experience within strategic sourcing and commodity management.
This person will lead the purchasing of services, components, and raw materials to support the needs in our Manufacturing, Distribution and Aftermarket with focus in Mexico as well as Central and South America regions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively manages the procurement of assigned components, raw materials and services.
- Will provide substantial oversite/management for Dexter suppliers in Mexico/Central-South America locations.
- Conducts spend analysis, requirements assessments, and business case development.
- Will assist the overall business in finding and acquiring companies that fit Dexter/DexKo’s structural business needs while expanding the footprint into Mexico allowing the company to save labor dollars while potentially expanding our customer reach into Mexico.
- Creates commodity specific sourcing strategies to optimize supplier base and total cost of ownership of the Mexico / Central-South American region.
- Maintains information regarding industry and market trends and reports trend information needed to
- support recommendations and decisions.
- Works in close partnerships with engineering and Dexter product teams to deliver necessary sourcing strategies that support all growth and cost initiatives.
- Proactively manages risk across the Mexico / Central-South American regions and works across the purchasing, supply chain and engineering teams on risk mitigation plans.
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and shares results in real time with the supply chain teams allowing for efficient management of inventory levels.
- Leads strategic sourcing process for assigned commodities, including market assessment, supplier
- qualification, and requests for supplier information and pricing (RFI/RFQ).
- Conducts fact-based negotiations with current and potential suppliers.
- Administers vendor agreements consistent with company policies.
- Works with suppliers, plants, Quality Control, and Engineering to identify and implement continuous cost and quality improvements.
- Timely communicates supplier performance information to plants, Quality Control, and Engineering.
- Supports plant quality, operations, and materials departments to help resolve any supplier quality and
- delivery issues.
- Executes and insures supplier conformance to engineering change notices.
- Coordinates the expediting of critical items and allocation of scarce resources as needed.
- Supervisory Responsibilities could include shared services in a future Mexico operations center
- Performs other tasks or duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable discipline and at least 3 years related experience; or an equivalent in combination of education and experience.
- Must have 15+ years in sourcing chassis and/or axle components, specificallly within Mexico and/or Central-South America regions
- Can demonstrate knowledge of Mexico’s supply base, along with regional knowledge of Mexico business and culture to locate, secure and implement top suppliers into Dexter’s supply base
Normal will range between 25%-50% and should be able to peak up to 75% if needed at certain times of business needs for short periods of time.Must reside near Elkhart, Indiana or be willing to Relocate to the greater Elkhart, IN region.
- Strong requirement for Bilingual with ability to speak AND write fluent Spanish and English
